Croatian holiday - Saturday

On Saturday, I headed first to breakfast at a place recommended by RS in the cove I took so many pictures of the day before.  I took more.

Food just tastes that much better when you are looking at that.  I read a bit, enjoyed the calm and the warmish weather while dining on walnut crepes.  It was quite good.

After that, what morning is not complete without some ice cream?  I headed into the old city, grabbed some ice cream and headed for a stroll.  I found the old port that I ate at the night before:

The main road in the old city is really cool - shops on both sides, pedestrian only:
The city has historically been protected by this saint:
That's St. Blaise - sculpture in the wall.

I also saw a map of where the bombs fell in the Dubrovnik siege:
Hard to see, but that's a lot of bombs and not very long ago.  I'm not knowledgeable at all on the former Yugoslav conflict, but having now traveled in Montenegro and Croatia, I could see where the different ethnic groups have no trust of each other.  Whether that was a result of the war or existed before is another question, but I heard and witnessed a lot of ethnic bashing.  More on that in the Sunday recap.

I also took some time to see the Pharmacy museum:

I also took a brief video:
Not worth the $5 to get in at all, but some pretty pictures, I guess.  $5 would have been better spent on 2 ice creams :)

I then did the Old Town Wall walk, which is one of 2 3 pyramid items in the RS books.  I entered at the Ploce gate and enjoyed the long trip around with pictures:

I was on the walls for about 4 hours when it started to sprinkle.  Considering the time and my need to eat about every 2 hours while on holiday, I jumped off the walls and headed to another RS recommended place for Bosnian food, which is essentially meat and more meat (and a side of potato):

Yum...

Dubrovnik is really bad for the rain though.  It started to gully washer after I finished eating, so I grabbed my umbrella and made it back to the hotel as quickly as I could.  Considering I had an early morning the next morning (daylight savings, plus a 8AM go time for Montenegro) I ended up drinking tea at the hotel and enjoying an early night to bed.  It rained all night, so that was definitely the right call.
