Very quickly after the Newcastle trip, I found myself going to Manila very short notice for a work trip. I didn't get many pictures, but since the blog is all about remembering everywhere I've been, it gets a nod.
Manila is not vanilla. Nothing about it is plain or describable. I really want to go back at some point to get a better feel for the city.
I flew business class, which is a completely new experience for me for such a long flight. I felt famous :) . I took an overnight flight to Hong Kong on BA and from there connected for a flight to Manila. The connection time was incredibly short, so an agent from Cathay met me at the gate and helped me navigate security (again - but a bit of a joke...I went through on accident with change in my pocket and something else metal and the detector didn't go off). The gates could not have been further away. I didn't have a boarding pass because of the difference in airlines, but thankfully that was all sorted at the gate. Cathay is a really nice airline, highly recommend it.
Evidence I flew to Hong Kong!
Weather in Celsius....it was so hot compared to the NL and UK where I was spending most my time. I realised I don't really own hot weather work clothes anymore.
Made it to the hotel pretty late at night, but to be honest, it felt like early morning for me. I worked until about 2AM because I couldn't sleep...I never got on the right time zone.
Late night ice cream snack at the hotel. I have no idea what flavour it was, but it was so pretty I had to try.
On the cab ride back to the airport after a whirlwind 48 hours. Manila reminded me of cities I've been to in Mexico. Crazy traffic, city buzzing constantly and hot. I need a return trip! The trip back was uneventful...I don't remember much of it. I landed early morning from Hong Kong in London and went straight to work...glamorous!
