An afternoon at Lords

My first weekend in London this month was spent starting in line at Heathrow.  They seem to keep reducing the number of non-EU border control agents.  I love my American passport, except at Heathrow.

On Friday, I had tickets to Sri Lanka Day 2 at Lord's which is the home of Cricket.  The tickets were to a special part of the grounds, so I got my own wrist band:

This is the Nursery grounds, which are where the amateurs and MCC squad practice and play

The test ground - I showed up just in time to see Joe Root hit a double century and then declare for Sri Lanka to start their second innings:

Tea time during Sri Lanka's second innings (rolling out the wicket with the Zamboni of cricket).

Best shot I have of the action:

At tea time, they had a five person band come out to entertain.  It's the Yorkshire Tea band - notice the tea cups on their heads :)

Cricket at Lords is so relaxing - I've been one other time since and really loved it.  The seats for Sri Lanka were so posh, I felt like I had stepped into a movie.   The back of the stands had places you could get afternoon tea (high tea) and dinner.  You can bring in alcohol and this clientele brought in champagne as if it was nothing.  Very civilized.  I even got a Pimm's to celebrate being pseudo English for the day. I'm going back this weekend for MCC vs. ROW, I'm very excited!
