Day 1 was a success! Brief recap -
We left about 11 after dropping a&a off at the airport. We drove first to the Ardennes cemetery. It was so good to be on American soil! 'merica - gotta love it. The cemetery is really well done - beautiful landscaping in an absolutely pristine area. I really didn't think it would be that great seeing the town around it, but it was nicely upgraded to fit the sacrifice. All of us commented that seeing tax payer money spent on that facility makes taxes a bit better. My uncle is buried there, so we got a photo of his spot. The best part was the inscription on the back of the monument (third picture below). Such an overtly Christian witness right there for all to see, yet so patriotic in the same breath.
After Ardennes, we drove through Luxembourg and found our hotel in Trier, which so far (one beer and one wiener schnitzel) is excellent!
On tap for tomorrow- Mosel river valley!
