#denmarkday4

I'm not going to lie - I didn't run out of internet access half way through the trip.  The hotels were quite good and I had regular access.  I was just having too much fun to post!  That's a good problem to have....but now I must catch up.

I last left off on the ferry ride and Night watchman's tour of Aeroskobing.  On to the actual day on Aero....

#balticbliss - The day began with a nice sleep in to recover from a long night of cards and Havana cokes.  It was nice to take a "vacation from the vacation".  There is literally nothing to do on Aero but stroll and enjoy the old houses and nature.  I rented a bike at the hotel (yea for kids bikes!) and rode along the coast for a few hours in the morning and in the afternoon.  It was glorious.

#Sevengearspeeddemon - bike was most likely built for a 12-13 year old, but fit me perfectly.  It had so many gears that it left me confused.  I only used 2 of them and one of them was an accident.  Overall though, for a first time riding a strange bike in a strange place, it went really well.  No falls, I didn't get lost and got some much needed exercise.

#livingthelife - seriously, this was the view from my morning ride.  It doesn't get much better than that.

#Sheepandsolarpanels - industry is varied on the island as one can see.

#obligatorychurchvisit - I'm finding that even though I'm "churched out" here in Europe, I cannot go to a city and not see the church, no matter how small.  I'm glad I did in Aeroskobing, the inside was so perfectly normal, which I love.  No ornate craziness, just a simple house of worship. #wayGodintendedit

#wendishblue? - Most of the churches in Denmark had blue trimmed or blue covered pews.  It was a little too periwinkle to be the wendish blue, but it gave a nice low key ambience to the design.  I really liked it.

#Marshallmoney - After WWII devastated many of the occupied countries and Germany, the US along with other nations put up money as part of the Marshall plan to reconstruct Europe.  Aeroskoping applied for some of this money and many of the buildings were restored with money from the US.  Must make them feel a bit better for selling the Virgin Islands to us for pennies.

#fishlunch - after a restful morning, the afternoon started with lunch at a castle, which included 2 open face sandwiches.  I was fished out by this point, so the cold fried filet open face didn't really do it for me.  But I'm glad I ate like a Dane.  That's how they stay so skinny.

#missedthechurch - We visited another church after lunch with a local guide, but I forgot to take pictures!!!  grrr.  After the church it was a ride down to the coast to see the waves up close.  The water was surprisingly warm, but full of jelly fish.  The guide said they didn't sting, but I wasn't about to trust her on that.  #noneedtopeeonme

#gloryride - After that, it was free time again, so I took another long ride down to the bathing huts on the coast.  Such cute little houses for enjoying a swim.  I then made it out onto a peninsula of the island #windy:

#hungryhippo - After that ride, I was so hungry.  I caught up with my new American friends for an RS recommended restaurant that was fabulous.  I had steak for dinner that was great along with a crepe for dessert.
